July 25, 2007, Flint, MI– In 1970, before cell phones, computerized cash registers and even strip malls, Palace Coney Island opened their doors in Genesee Valley Center, the same day as Sears-Roebuck. Now 37 years later they are still going strong and are offering an anniversary promotion in partnership with Coca Cola.

“We want to celebrate the 37 years we have been in business,” said Gus Vergos, owner of Palace Coney Island. “I’ve seen it all and it’s been a successful stay here at Genesee Valley.”

Palace will be offering a free 20 oz. Coca-Cola product with any purchase at their restaurant. They want to encourage the public to stop by for lunch and help them celebrate. They have a wide range of menu items including soups, salads and the traditional “coney dog.”

“It’s businesses like these that help keep our community alive,” said Clyde Cooper, operations manager at Genesee Valley Center. “I can remember when they were a sit down restaurant in the lower level of the mall.”

Palace Coney Island opened in 1970 and has been a family owned and operated business since.
