Spring has Arrived at the Valley

Flint, MI, March 4, 2005—Shoppers know the spring season is near when they visit Genesee Valley Center and view the annual live landscape in center court.  Members of the Genesee Area Landscape and Nursery Association (GALNA) have created another landscape design with more than $7,000 worth of plants and materials to help put shoppers in the spring spirit.  This is the fourth annual live landscape display at Genesee Valley Center created by the volunteers of GALNA.

The weeping cherry tree, budding flowers and trendy shrubbery are surrounded by gloriously tall evergreens.  New this year is a wooden pergola offering a seasonal seating area for viewing the garden, the rock-lined water pond and the marble birdbath sculpture with a floating sphere.

Shoppers are encouraged to mingle amongst the greenery on the live landscape set to spark ideas and plan their spring landscaping needs for their homes.  The live landscape is designed, installed and maintained by the club members and these local designers offer advice on the hottest trends in landscape design.  Members of GALNA will be available evenings and weekends now through Saturday, April 2 to offer advice and tips on landscaping.

On Sunday, April 3 starting at 3 p.m., GALNA will offer shoppers the opportunity to view the items and at 6 p.m., the live auction bidding starts to purchase these premium plants and landscape elements on display.

The live landscape is the seasonal home for the Easter Bunny who arrived at the Valley, on Saturday, March 5 at 10:15 a.m. The Easter Bunny is available for photos Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays noon to 6 p.m., now through Saturday, March 26.
