GENESEE VALLEY CENTER HOSTS TWO NON-PROFIT COMMUNITY EVENTS IN THE COMING WEEKS
Flint, MI—July 5, 2010—Genesee Valley Center is pleased to announce two non-profit community events on Thursday, July 15th and Friday, July 23rd.
On Thursday July 15th, the Genesee Valley Teen Board will host “Caring for Chemo” to benefit Hurley Medical Center and The American Cancer Society. The event will run from 2pm – 6pm (or while supplies last) in the JCPenney Wing of the center. The Teen Board, which is comprised of 23 teens from area high schools, will provide fleece caps for shoppers to decorate. These will be donated to cancer patients at Hurley Medical Center They will also be collecting monetary donations for the American Cancer Society. “Our teen board members have worked very diligently to create a community event that will benefit those who have been diagnosed with Cancer,” said Genesee Valley Center’s interim Marketing Manager, Michelle Cherveny. “It was very important to them to choose non-profit organizations which meant something to so many people.” Refreshments will also be served to those who donate their time or money
On Friday July 23rd, the Michigan Blood Center will host a blood drive in center court from Noon-6pm. They are offering those who donate blood that day a chance to win a weekly prize of two-night stay to the Grand Rouge Campground with kayak trip (up to four people) and two free bundles of firewood as part of a sponsorship package from Pure Michigan. Those blood donators will also be entered to win in to a Pure Michigan sponsored “July Grand Prize” drawing of a two-night stay at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City which includes breakfast and dinner for two for the two days, two rounds of golf at the Bear Golf Course and a spa package for two. Those who wish to donate blood must be a healthy person of 17 years of age or older, weighing 110lbs or more.
The public is welcome to both events.
