FLINT LOVES LAKISHA

Posted

March 30, 2007, Flint, MI-- Show your support for our local “star” by visiting Genesee Valley Center starting April 1 and you could be watching the finale live from Los Angeles!

The “Sing for Your Seats” contest is sponsored by WSMH FOX 66 and kicks off Sunday, April 1 at Genesee Valley.  Customers can register, free of charge, for the contest at the customer service desk until May 9.  Each customer will sign their name on a bright yellow star and the stars will be posted near the King Arthur’s Castle Playground.

Fifteen stars will be pulled at random and those local residents will have the opportunity to “Sing for a Seat” on Saturday, May 12 in center court.  The favorite performance at this event on May 12 will win two tickets to attend the American Idol finale taping in LA.  Winners must be able to travel at the last minute to the taping.  Complete rules are posted at Genesee Valley’s customer service desk.

In addition to the official contest, viewing parties are being held every Tuesday and Wednesday night at two of the center’s restaurants.  Bar Louie and Ruby Tuesday will turn their televisions on to watch our local contestant vie for the top spot on American Idol.

To showcase community support a giant postcard banner is draped in center court and customers are invited to sign messages for LaKisha. The banner features a blown up photo of our hometown girl.

“Whenever we can join our local residents in showcasing Flint and the talent here, we are in like FLINT,” said Lili Donaldson, marketing manager at Genesee Valley Center, “we are hoping to post up to 2,500 stars in the next couple of weeks to visually demonstrate the local support for LaKisha and this contest,” Donaldson said.
