FOR BACK TO SCHOOL
July 12, 2007, Flint, MI– Back to school is a time to look to the future…and a unique college experience for next summer, thanks to a new program created by Genesee Valley Center called BOUNCE TO THE FUTURE.
Starting July 25, kids can register to win Starbury Shoes from Steve and Barry’s and ten lucky kids will win the grand prize of a college-based, week-long camping experience next summer courtesy of the Flint Rotary Club in partnership with Steve & Barry’s, a tenant at Genesee Valley Center.
“We want to provide children with a real college experience,” said Lili Donaldson, marketing manager at Genesee Valley Center. “With the support of the Flint Rotary Club Scholarship Committee, we are designating funds to send ten kids to a week-long college experience at a Michigan accredited college camp, based on the interest of the winners.”
Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint is hosting a basketball clinic in conjunction with Bounce to the Future on July 25th. Detroit Pistons/Shock "Year Round Hoops" director, Aaron Smith will host the clinic for Boys & Girls Club members, teaching them basketball fundamentals and ideals of good teamwork and sportsmanship. This clinic will take place as part of the Club´s Summer Fun Program, Genesee County´s largest single-site youth summer program. Registration for the camping experience and a chance to win one of over 100 Steve & Barry gift certificates to purchase a pair of STARBURY shoes starts July 25 and continues until close of business, August 31. Parents can register their child at Genesee Valley Center’s customer service desk or at the offices and programs affiliated with The Greater Flint Boys and Girls Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Flint.
